A set of folders created by MicroStrategy Desktop is not visible by default. Below is the list of hidden and invisible folders:
- Profiles
- Object Templates
- Version Update History
- Version Information
- System Objects
Note: Modifying or deleting any hidden folders or objects will cause serious metadata inconsistencies
The viewing of hidden folders or objects in MicroStrategy is simple. Just Go to MSTR Desktop > Tools >Desktop Preferences >Browsing Options >Display Hidden Objects.
It will display only 'Profiles', 'Object Templates', 'Version Update History' and 'Version Information' folders. For System Objects we have to do some changes in the windows registry.
Here is a quick tip of how to show hidden “System Objects” folder in Microstrategy Developer.
To do that you just have to:
1. Close Microstrategy Developer/Desktop;
2. Run –> REGEDIT –> HKEY_CURRENT_USER –> Software –> MicroStrategy –> DSS Agent –> DSS Agent > ShowInvisibleObjects=yes
3. Restart I-Server, system objects will be visible
