Sometimes it happens that when we tried to login with MicroStrategy web page or web admin page , it prompted for credential. Basically it only ask for credential when MicroStrategy set for windows authentication. If we do not want to set windows authentication ON then please go to IIS or web server and set the authentication to Anonymous.
if we are getting a pop up to prompt for credentials, it means that we have set NT Authentication on the Virtual Directory. If we're on a network and don't want to enter those credentials, we can have our web browser answer them automatically. For setting this please follow the below steps.
Firefox:
1. go to about:config
2. Filter on "network.auto"
3. double click on "network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris
4. enter the domain that your web server is on : If we have web server on local machine then it would be localhost.
IE:
1. Tools -> Internet Options
2. Security Tab -> Local Intranet -> Sites
3. Advanced
4. Add domain to the list
Now it won't be prompted and you'll authenticate automatically.
Of course, if you don't want to authenticate with NT and want to just use a regular login/password, you can remove the requirement for NT Authentication in the Virtual Directory settings and allow Anonymous.
