Migrate a Color Palette between projects with MicroStrategy Object Manager

Starting in MicroStrategy 10,  we  can create a color palette at the project level and assign it to one or more themes. This color palette can then be used to format a dashboard and set our own set of color to it.

A color palette applies to the objects, such as graph's bar risers or heat map's rectangles, displayed in all the visualizations in the dashboard.

But since we are creating this color palette at project level we would like to avail the same for other projects but Color palettes cannot be migrated as standalone objects as themes hold a reference to them.

If you would like to migrate this then you would need to migrate the theme associated with it as well Therefore if we migrate a theme, its dependent color palettes will be migrated along to the destination project.

STEPS:

These are the steps to follow  in order to migrate a color palette successfully:

1.  In MicroStrategy Web, take note of the themes linked to the color palette. This can be seen from the Project Defaults Preferences, in theColor Palettes menu:
   
   
   
2. Log into the project source with MicroStrategy Object Manager. Go to Tools menu > Object Manager Preferences and in the Browsing section, check "Display hidden objects".
3. Access the source project and browse to the themes folder, whose path is "Public Objects\Themes". 
4. Drag and drop the themes that use the color palette to the destination project. In the screenshot from Step 1, the color palette is linked to the Light and Dark color themes. Therefore, both would need to be migrated in order to migrate the color palette successfully. The action to migrate the themes should be set to "Replace" to ensure that the themes are correctly replaced in the target project. Alternatively, an Object Manager package can be created and imported into the destination project, instead of the drag and drop approach.
